Was out on a ride yesterday and we come across a nice straight stretch so we decided to make some runs with the GPS. The run we did may have been a bit more than 1000' but still pretty close. I ran the viper and got 86.7....next was a new Pro R 600, he got 83.4....next an 08 MXZ 800 that got 97.0 and an 08 Apex with the exact same speed. It was hard to believe my speedo was out because I was showing 97, 10MPH off! It was still an awesome time. My buddy with the Apex let me make the run with it....that thing is damn fast!

Some guys will grind one tooth off the speedo wheel, that get's it a lot closer.

I'm sure that's not the technical term for it lol. it's attached to the end of the driveshaft under the secondary clutch. looks like a gear. the sensor picks up each tooth as it passes by.

I will check it out when I get time. So is this a good speed for my viper or should it be faster? It is all stock with 8k miles.

I've never owned a stock one but I'd expect it to be slower than the Ape

It depends so much on conditions. If that was ice it could be a lot better. If you were pushing any snow it seems decent. Seems about right when comparing to the other sleds.

The conditions were not that great....it was an ungroomed trail but we have had a week of warm weather (slightly above freezing) so it was fairly hard packed but just slightly up hill.
