I just bought my son a 95 vmax 500> It hadn't run in 5 years. I drained the gas tank and cleaned the carbs. Las night he ran it for about 30 minutes and everything was good. Tonight after about 10 minutes it lost power. Now it only wants to run when it has half choke. other wise it stall out. Should I go back through the carbs or could it be something else. Thanks

double check the pilots are clean in the carbs and check the crank seals. could be either one but I would check the carbs 1st.
x2 Running only on choke is a classic sign of clogged pilots. You probably had them clean and then since the sled had been sitting so long it sucked more crud into them after you got it running.

I believe this may be the case. I just had the exact same issue with my snowblower. Fuel lines were breaking down on the inside ad clogging the jets. My son and I just pulled the carbs off and I will check them tonight. Probably pick up some fuel lines this weekend. Thanks for the input. Will post the outcome soon.x2 Running only on choke is a classic sign of clogged pilots.
