I lost the key for my sxr700. Model year 2000. Any idea how I can bypass the ignition so I can ride today? The dealer isn't open to get a replacement until Monday.

If its the single headlight sled you should be able to just unplug the ignition switch and it should run.

I did that and it doesn't seem to be getting spark. It is single headlight

If unplugging ignition switch doesn't work, you'll have to swap out ignition switch or figure out which wires to join to get it to run.

If you've got a Yamaha motorcycle, 4 wheeler, anything, try the key in your sled. My FJ1200 key works in my Viper.

X2, I don't know which keys actually go to which sled anymore. They all work in each sled. lol

Ive got a switch if you wanted to change it out. Otherwise a yamaha dealer cancut you a key if you tell them the vin number (mine does anyway).
Don't know about sleds, but the bikes have a 4 digits on a sticker on the lock cylinder. I'm assuming that sleds have it too? Give that 4 digit code to your dealer and they should be able to cut you another one.

so basically a guy can walk up to most Yami sleds with a key from his and start a lot of them..I know my 600 SXR and SRX keys will work on both..what kind of security did Yamaha offer us then..not to good.Best thing is to get another key cut based of the 4 digit code that should be in your manual.
