Hey guys My brother in law and I both have 2001 SRX's. We were changing the exhausts to the bender cans. We noticed that his SRX is louder than mine is. Even with the stock exhaust hos was louder. So we changed bender cans to see if they were different and had the same results. I was wondering if maybe his pipes are more broken in then mine. He has more miles on his. Could the packing have gone bad or warn enough that it needs to be replaced and if so how? Thanks for the help.
I can't be wrong but I think those pipe are empty ...only the muffler himself got some stuff in it

I believe the pipes are empty as well...or at least of anything you can re-pack. Maybe power valves? (his are open a lil further?) Maybe swap the pipes around.
maybe your pipe are full of oil bake inside ......................switch all pipe and see....

That was our next step. Chaging pipes around. The only other difference is he has a heat packing around his belly pan area. Would that help amplify the sound?
Check his exhaust doughnuts. Maybe they are really worn causing gaskets to leak?

He replace his doughnuts and also sealed with high temp silicone. No leaks on either
that is proof that not every SRX is the same with that said maybe his SRX has better power as in compression than yours just saying!

Have not been able to check compression yet. Need a quality tester. Tried a cheep one back when I first got mine and was only 80-90 a crossed the bored. Will try and find out this weekend if we can not ride.
