So tonight I put another Yamaha belt on my srx and took it for a lil rip because last night the belt was slipping pretty bad in the primary. So I ran it for a bit on the track stand to warm everything up and looked inside by the clutches while running it on the stand and it didn't seem to be slipping as much as it was yesterday. I could still see some black marks lower in the primary but much better than it was. So then after taking it for a little ride it made a weird noise while under power, I checked the belt and didn't see any pieces of the belt missing or anything but regardless I'm getting a new belt tomorrow. I put it back on the trackstand cause I had also smelled some burnt rubber like something was getting hung up. I looked in the skid and on the right side one of the idler wheels spun freely but the one ahead of it seemed like it was hung up on something or that it was seized. I could move it with a little force but it still didn't turn no where as easily as the other one did. So just wondering if this could possibly be one of my problems causing the rubber smell??

Hard to say without seeing it. I suppose a bearing could get hot enough to start melting the wheel. I've never seen one do that but you never know. Does the wheel look like it melted? I would start by checking why your belt is slipping. Something is not right with your sled and belts get expensive fast. Can you spin the track by hand easily?

EDIT: There's another thread going right now with the same problems your having, give it a read. Good luck and post back with what you find.

I took my sled for a ride last night and ran it for a bit on the track stand, I noticed that the track seemed a little tight so I loosened it up some. But after running it again on the stand and then it seemed it was a bit easier to turn the track by hand. And with the new belt on I took it for a rip it seemed to ride fine and looked at the clutches and no more belt slipping. But I could still hear a little droning sound coming from the skid.
