is this a viper er (red in colour) or normal viper? there are a couple of spots you can take it from. I recommend taking it from the brake light circuit or the tail lamp circuit. brake lite circuit is accessable under the bar pad.

if it is an er, I would just come off the battery with a fuse or circuit breaker.

I just went right to the battery. But didn't put a fuse inline. Maybe I should have, but would have no idea what size. I have no idea how much power a heated shield even pulls.

5 amp is lots for a visor.

I wired the one on my war to a 15 amp breaker but it also powers the gps.

My helmet came with a wire to connect to the battery. The wire has a 2 amp fuse. Your helmet may have a different resistance, but at least it gives you a good ballpark.

ok. then the tail light is your best bet. brake lite is good second choice. one wire to ground and splice into the power supply for either and you should be gtg.

if I remember correctly the wires down by the pull handle are for the back up alarm or the fuse block/starter relay. do not know if they have power without fuse block for e start.

A little tip I picked up years ago about wiring up my visor plug was to tap into the tail light wire where it runs through the seat frame so that the pigtail comes up between the gas tank and the seat. That way you can run the visor cord down through your jacket and it won't be in the way of any of the handlebar controls.I have both mine wired up this way and find it a lot less obtrusive this way vs having the cord strung out in front of me hanging off the handlebar.

That's a good idea, I may have to try that.

I would tap into a much cleaner power supply then the tail light wiring. There are larger wires coming off the regulator assembly. If done correctly, the visor wire can be secured to the wiring harness and ran through just sticking out by the plastic vents by the tank
