Hello, my buddy has a 1994 vmax 600 and it is not running right its not bogging it just slowly picks up to speed. Put a new fuel filter in it and we cleaned out the carbs and it was pretty close to running perfect but it only lasted a day and was back to its old problem. Could it be the clutch? Thanks

If you cleaned the carbs , changed the filter and it ran good for a day why would you think it's the clutch? Unless there's more to your work then it sounds like a fuel issue. How olds the gas? How many miles? Fuel pump ever been rebuilt? I have a 94 600 Vmax and it's by no means a powerhouse. I added a set of boyesen two stage reeds and made it run a ton better.
Back on topic. Check the carbs again and look at the reeds see if any damage. If gas is old drain and put new gas in.

Haha good question. Well we're only 18 and we just bought our first sleds don't know to much about his though. Never rebuilt the fuel pump. When he bought it it ran like a champ and then it just went down hill from there. He was putting high octane fuel in it and it was running a bit better. It is also a gas and oil hog way worse then my 97 vmax 600.

Fill the tank completely full w/ good fuel. Then report back. Might just be the pick-up line inside the tank. They tend to get brittle in the tank. Causing them to not lay on the bottom of the tank.

Are the problems at low/slow speeds. Does it run OK at WOT.
Once it gets up to 6000 rpms it runs fine. the problem is at low speeds
the 94's were known to break the secondary clutch buttons, I just replaced a set yesterday, they don't run well with them broken just something to check.

The pilots more than likely got plugged up again w/ ethanol snot. It'll take a few cleanings to get it all out. Run it w/ STA-BIL marine formula(1 oz/5 gal). But you'll probably end up taking the pilots out again.Once it gets up to 6000 rpms it runs fine. the problem is at low speeds
Thanks we'll keep cleaning them!

Make sure you have a nice new set of spark plugs in it as well. I have the same sled, cleaned the carbs and it ran fine for a week, then went two weeks later and it would hardly run, new plugs and its good to go. Not sure why it fouled out but it was the easiest thing to try and it fixed my problem.
He put new ones in at the beginning of winter when it was running good so that could be it. Thats the only thing we forgot to check haha.Make sure you have a nice new set of spark plugs in it as well.
