to make a long story short i swaped out skids 99 srx with 03 viper for a better ride because i do some trail riding also thinking it wasn't going to slow my sled down in drag racing but now will not launch of the line and almost no ski lift, played with the transfer rods and spacers, (they are adjustable) adjusted shocks, moved limiter straps around but not the same transfer, a couple questions? are the front shocks in the skid the same? are the front arms the same? i do know that the limiter straps are longer and the rear shock was a couple inches longer with longer transfer rods also, the only thing i can think of doing to get that good launch back is to put my old skid back in with the viper rear shock and my old adjustable lighting rods, but the old front arm was all broke, can i use the viper front arm? all bushings and bearings were replaced. i did check out the tuning video and read betheviper suspension post. my main goal at this point is drag race setup. anyone have a good starting point ?

With that skid you changed the geometry of the sled. I have no personal experience with this put you raised the rear and not the front to match. If this is a drag sled i would put the old skid back in and the W arm from the viper will work. You dont get that transfer because of the increased ski pressure now from the front end pointing down. You would have to put a longtravel front end on to balance out sled. SOme guys flip and swap shock mounting brackets to get about a inch back in front end. If for drags i would swap it back out, and live with the poor travel on trails.

SRX with Viper Skid ( Need set up help)

i was thinking of using my old limiter straps and transfer rods to bring things down, i'm wondering if i can use the viper or srx shocks?

well I did the same on my sled with 144 chisel ...well it hookkkkkk big time ....with the 144 trail stud it was hooking good too

i'm running 192 trail studs and still not as much transfer and ski lift as i use to have, anyone ever use the viper shocks with the srx limiter straps and transfer rods?

I do have the srx transfer rod(aftermarket) ....but do have the viper limiter strap ..srx are to short

I do have trouble with ratchening ..I change the front driver hope it will solved the problem

Did you try the FRA at soft or lower the preload of the rear/center springs?

You may be better off using the SRX stuff. Although it's just as easy to pull the skid then to change shocks.

Take the good from each and build the SRX skid.
