Hey guys new to this site and new to the sport. First of all incredible site. So much info and great guys on here! Has helped me out a ton. I have a 98 yamaha mountain max 600 twin and I have searched for this answer but have not found it. I was wondering if a 99 mm 700 triple oil pump would fit my sled?

Not sure if it would work being from a triple. I have one from a 99 vmax 500 twin for sale. Not sure if it will work though

The oil pump from a triple wont work, the oil pump from a 97 + 500 is the same pump as a 600 but I believe there are small differences.
 
The pump from a triple won't work, the pump from a 500 looks the same, but has a different part number. My venture 6 has the same exact motor as your mm, smart carbs and all. Went through the same issue, failed pump, and ended up buying a new one.
 
I have the same problem with my 98 600 twin, drinks oil like my son drinks beer ! I remember that a Exciter oil pump is the fix for the twins ? Anyone ?
 
The fix is a new pump. It will give the motor the correct amount of oil.
 
Ya I figured as much. Well thank you for all the info guys. I'll just by a new one.

I just unhooked my pump and premix, worked so far got about 300 miles on it like this.

Hmmm ok cool I herd that the oil pump oils the crank bearing and the water pump bearing or something like that.
