I recently resurrected a 1978 enticer 250 from our barn. I went throught he motor and did the mikuni vm 34 carb swap. The sator looked fine so i reinstalled it and went throught he wire harness and replaced all the wires that the mice had bitten through and I got rid of the tether. I also replaced the coil and the spark plug. I went to check for spark, and i had none. I checked all of the ground locations and they are good. Now my question is, how do i verify that the stator is in good working order. Also, what should my resisantance reading be for the stator ( 3 wire ), and how do i verify that the timing is correct. Thanks

did you verify that where you got rid of the tether, that the tether switch was a normally open or normally closed set up???, theres 2 differnt ones and if you just twisted the wires together on the normally open, it thinks the tether is disconnected and grounding the cdi box.

this was my first thought when reading your post.

I just unpluged the tether connector. This is a 1978 enticer there is no cdi box. They came out with the CDi in late 1979 and in to 1980. Thats why this ststor has three wires. I should be able to by pass all of the wiring and go right form the the stator connector to the coil.
