24/38 gearing vs 23/38 gearing..
Will a stock srx 700 Benefit from this gearing in top end withought sacrificing much bottom
Sled is stock with little clutching.

Thanks

So I take it not a really good idea, sled is running good just wanted to maybe gain a little more top withought sacrificing bottom, I would really like to try 23/37 gearing but I have reverse and I would have to scarifice reverse to run a 37 bottom. Not ready for that.
Thanks guys

i ran 23/ 38 in the 1/4 on tar with my srx. droped to 23/37. i saw slight mph increase on my time slips. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I went one tooth larger on my top gear. I have a 98 which I think came with taller gearing to start with. On my sled, that gear change made a big difference. Gained top and surprisingly gained bottom. This is tested by running our sleds before and after the gear change on a lake and long 1/2 field, packed snow. The taller gearing actually helped the sled out of the hole, beating the stock geared sled by 1-2 sleds right away. Now these were races with alot of track spin from the start. Maybe it was the track speed that won the holeshot, I don't know, but it worked on all of our Yami's. Which were 2 98's, an 02 and a piped 97 700 SX .

How do you gain bottom end with a larger top gear? That does not make sense. One tooth taller top gear would sacrifice some acceleration and give you more mph. So in other words its gonna give you mph but its gonna take longer to to reach it and thats if the motor can pull it. A stock 700 srx is geared at 23/38 and i believe at 1to1 or full potential of clutches unless overdrived is good 110mph.

I ran 22/38 for 1000' radar run and gained mph but I'm at 240lbs it seemed to carry my fat *** better than 23/38 it's all in testing

Yeah, that surprised me too. I geared taller for more top end thinking I'd lose alittle on the bottom. But after the gear change we all lined up again and I took all the other sleds by 1-2 sleds within the first 60ft. We raced countless times because the others couldn't believe it. They all geared up the next day. All these sleds were very close to each other before the gear change, with my sled having a slight advantage way on top, but up to 110, any of these sleds would swap wins, all side by side from the start.

Now as to why, the only reason I can think of is track speed. From a start, all sleds are spinning, but with my gear, my track is spinning faster. Now throw a ton of ice picks on it or asphalt track where there is traction and I'm sure the results would be different.

That's the only reason we could come up with. I've had very good luck with this sled, upsetting alot of bigger sleds that should beat me. Also please don't take this as me bragging about how great my sled is, that's not how I mean to come across. I've had this sled since 97 and spent alot of time tinkering with it. I just believe it's "setup" well.

what do you run for clutching ?

thats where everything matches as mrviper would say clutching is a recipe and yours has all the ingredients to make it work right

A Hauck stage 4 kit, with alittle bit of extra weight on the tip because of my weight (150lbs). I've never had to tinker with the clutching, besides maintenance.
