I've never had that happen to me first hand, but I've see that before. Some of the worst looking, mangled cranks I have seen were SRV540's. The internal parts look pretty dry, Im thinking lack of oil?? You said new jug so I wonder if you had a slightly bend rod from whatever damage occurred on the orginal jug?? Im thinking out loud here, I'd like to hear other theories.

ahh yes the old tuna can job .......seen it many times on many types of motors from Fuji to liberty to phazer Suzuki they all can do it for various reasons could have been a bent rod upper or lower rod bearing failure ...crank twist ....to flex of a case under load or as simple as a weak rod

Hey Guys,

It was a new one for me. I've never seen a two stroke motor implode. That motor had burnt the piston before because of bad crank seals. Its possible crank was twisted or bent rod. I have no proper way of measuring either one. We slapped a striped chassis back together in about 10 hours so a friend could ride something. Motor made it around 90 miles sounded fine seemed to run fine. He smoked a belt then about a half mile later he stopped again I thought it was the crappy spare belt. Opened the hood and wow pieces every where lol. At least I have another 540 motor to throw into it when I get around to it.
Thanks again
Ph
