Trying to find some sort of aftermarket exhaust for a 94 600 twin and my findings have been slim to none, bout all I've found is that outrageously expensive AAEN stuff and the 96 gytr pipe(which I cant find used anywhere).
Can any old "silencer/can" be welded up in place of where the stock silencer is on these pipes? Because after seeing some of the stock pipes on ebay you cant just get a new silencer for these I take it?
Only reason I'm asking is because I'm looking into buying a 94 vmax 600 (not sure of trim just know its a 1 seater) as a first snowmobile since the price is right on the one I found, but if I can't find a used pipe for this thing I might just pass because I can't stand the plugged up sound of a stock exhaust and wheres the fun in a bone stock machine?
And just a random question, will the vmax4 hood fit these? looks alot better then the plain jane hood on it.

The fun is riding on open trails that run through private property that haven't been closed because of inconsiderate sledders and thier obnoxious exhaust.

There's only one legitimate trail for atv/snomobile use around here which only sees use from local clubs, but we ride around in the pits which are pretty far out of town so as long as we keep it quiet through town I wouldn't see it being a problem - same thing goes for all of my other machines as I'm not doing this to annoy my neighbors. So is there not a cheap option for a different exhaust setup for these machines?

My response was based off of your screen name - thinking you may not be aware that noise (along with folks drifting off trail) is a major factor in closing connector trails that run through private property. Many of the non-riding public already think we're a bunch of crazed speed demons and loud exhaust systems only reinforce that stereotype.
I, like many here like the sound of a thru-piped triple. Many land owners don't and that's what counts.

I have had issues locating parts for my 96. I assume it will be the same. I agree with snomofo. Honestly, piping a sled that you plan on riding a ton is not a smart idea. Besides it will cost you more in a fine then it will for the sled and the pipes. Don't get me wrong, I like my loud pipes, but I love to ride even more. If you are going to ride on your own personal land, put a set of pipes on it. Or make your own. But if you are going to be on other peoples property, do all of us a favor in the sledding community and keep the stock can on it.
Things like this really get me going. One of my favorite sections of trails was closed last year due to people abusing land owners wishes. Now we have to ride 3.4 miles in the ditch.
Do it the right way, or stay home.

If you can find someone parting out a 1996 600 that pipe would be an upgrade from what you have without being loud or hard to tune. It is the same as the GYT single pipe and bolts right on. Different jetting would be needed but that info is not hard to find.Trying to find some sort of aftermarket exhaust for a 94 600 twin and my findings have been slim to none, bout all I've found is that outrageously expensive AAEN stuff and the 96 gytr pipe(which I cant find used anywhere).

Since a new can wont give you any performance increase anyway, you could just drill out the can if you want it a bit louder (also doesnt make it much louder at full throttle, only idle and low rpm) This is a bit risky thoguh since the 94's were a one piece deisgn. Has anyone ever tried fitting the y-pipe/pipe/can off of a 97-98 vmax 600 to an older 600?
P.s. I own land which has about 3kms of snowmachine trail running through it and I actually prefer the louder screams of the 2 strokes, then the annoying drone of a 4 stroke (sounds like ultralight helicopters), but the noise isnt whats making me consider closing the trail. The thing that pisses me off is ATVers making mud holes!!! And trespassers going off trail, Turning up my stereo to drown out noise is free, fixing mud holes isnt!
