Hello,
I have a 2003 Viper and the idle seems to hang about 3,500 RPM's before settling back down. The manual calls for the air screws to be turned out 1 7/8 turns. I tried that setting and was told to turn them out further to eliminate the problem. I have them 2 turns out and it is still doing it. It doesn't seem to do it while sitting there revving it, It seems to hang only when riding it. Other than this issue, the sled seems to be running great. The sled only has 500 miles and the carbs have been serviced this season. Does anybody know what would cause this?

The carbs have to be really cleaned. That means every orifice in the carb has to be clear. Carb cleaner and compressed air should flow through every orifice to know their clean. Also make sure the carbs are seated in the boots properly and not sucking air.

Turn your idle down too. I've seen a huge improvement with screws out 2 turns and idle around 1500-1600. Comes back down much quicker. And this past weekend doing over 100 miles it didn't run up on me once to clutch engagement.

That does help too if the idle is set a little lower.

Sure sounds like pilot jets plugged, you should pull each jet out and hold them up to a light to inspect.
Use carb cleaner and compressed air like superfan 75 mentioned. Then again look thew the tiny jet, you should see a difference if they are partially plugged. Our gas is pretty low quality anymore.

I turned mine down a touch more last night. Hovering round 1400-1500 when warm. She's running GREAT now...almost no hang...really, no hang at all. Finally. So don't overlook that as part of the solution. Also nice to be able to talk over the sled when it's idling (felt like before at 1700-1800 I had to raise my voice a lot).
