I cant seem to find new grips for my 99 500vmax. I can find grips, but not the correct yami ones. I read somewhere that Yamaha uses a different voltage than other sleds? does anybody got any ideas for me? I want them to not just work, but work properly. also, since they will probably be aftermarket, can I just splice them into the switch on the sled? would like to find red grips, the right wattage, and size. thanks guys

All that I have ever put on was the Hot Grips. They run $65 at my local Fleet Farm. They seem to work just fine.

Why don't you just buy the OEM grips from your dealer?? Check our Port Yamaha if you have any problems. Heck they probably have in stock every heated grip Yamaha ever used. Al

I just looked at the link, definatly buy the OEM version from your dealer. Oh, plus you will need a rivit as well. Al

I have the same ones on my Vmax and I didn't have any issues with them. Every time I go to a dealer for any parts, they never have anything in stock. Even the dealership that claims to be the biggest in the Mid West never has any parts in stock.

thanks guys. i first looked at yamaha parts house, but couldnt find them. now i rechecked, i found them under control cable?? i have never been super impressed with these original grips on my 99. my 01 grips heat up waaay better. what i am wondering is do the "hot grips" work good? like better than the originals? because they make red ones, and yami dont.
