I have a 97' v-max 600 my son purchased. I noticed that the exhaust has a small threated hole in it. Is this something that should be there or should I throw a screw into it.

exhaust question
Sterlingconceptsinc,
I have the same sled. It has no such hole in the exhaust pipe. I'd plug it up.

Same here on my 97 venture 6 with the same motor.

Thanks, I'll do that.
Another question if you don't mind. Do you see in my pic where the "Y" connects to the other exhaust pipe ( where its wired). I have air leaking thru there. Do you? Is there a gasket that may seal that spot ?

Yep, you'll need a new gasket, but you might be able to take the old one out, and gob it with high temp rtv (red) and for that. That is it the gasket doesn't break into 20 pieces when you take it out. I replaced mine recently. It was more $ than it should have been, but ours lasted a long time.

buy new exhaust springs, i see yours is chicken wired together, that's not helping the leak.

X2 - if the gasket is in one piece, using high temp (and letting cure overnight) works well - but not so much without good springs.
