Hey everyone, I have a question about the air jet on my carb for my '83 enticer 340 (EC340G). I'm having a problem with bogging and fouling plugs and I've been chasing this for a while. I've read every forum post on the internet multiples and checked everything and while cleaning the carb and looking at the yamaha parts diagram I noticed something but I don't have any other carbs to compare with so I'm hoping someone with experience or a similiar carb can help me out. In the attached picture on the right opening I believe is where the Air Pilot Jet is and my Question is if it is broken off? In the Yamaha parts diagram (other attached picture), it appears from the crude drawing to have a head on it, as if it can be removed / replaced however on mine there isn't any head. I'm not sure if this is a press fit, and supposed to look like this. If anyone has the same carb (mikuni B38-34 I believe) or some experience and could help me out I'd appreciate it.
As a secondary question, if this was broken would it cause bogging / fouled plugs? Fresh set of plugs when its warmed up and it will do 60-70mph on hard pack. After some normal riding on trails and what not, it will just bog out completely and not even be able to spin the track. This happened all of a sudden when we were out riding a few years ago in really cold / blizzardy weather. It was running like a champ and always had been and we stopped to help a guy stranded on a highway and after idling for 20+ minutes it died and froze up into a solid brick with ice everywhere, including inside the carb if I remember correctly. After hauling it home and thawing it out, it starts and idles great but after warming up will often fouled plugs and bog. I was thinking if there was ice in the carb it may have frozen and broken the head off that jet.
Thanks!
