Got quick question for you guys! Is there any difference in jugs or heads between the 99 srx and the 2001? I see they got different numbers but take same pistons. Thanks
1998-1999 SRX take same pistons, cylinders, and heads (all are different part # from the later years)
2000-2002 SRX take same pistons, cylinders, and heads (all are different part # from the earlier years)
If you are finding the same number for the piston for all 5 years, are you talking aftermarket pistons? The current Yamaha parts list shows different numbers for 98-99 & 00-02

The pistons are all the same for 98 to 02 the only difference is that Yamaha has a coating from the factory that I believe started on the '00's if not the '01 for sure so if your replacing pistons order them for an '01 and you'll get coated ones.As for the heads and jugs yes the '98/99's are different than the '00-02's.From 2000 and up Yamaha changed a few things with the engine, the ignition went to a higher wattage one,the port timing of the cylinders was changed and the heads have a slightly different cc.They will all interchange as far as bolting on BUT if you do go with a certain cylinder and head combo make sure you use all 3 the same.'98/99 part numbers are 8DN 00 on the jugs and heads where the '00 - 02's are 8DN 10.As for a performance gain in going with later year heads and jugs on a 98/99 base well that's up to someone like Mrviper to answer,he's the resident engine tech guy.
