Black Bear

I have a 1988 Exciter that I purchased recently. The sled runs great on the hard trail but bogs if its in like 12 inches of powder. It does seem to do better if I open the hood when it gets bogged down. Any and all troubleshooting thoughts are appreciated.
What to look for?
Clutch not back shifting?
Exhaust partially blocked from the snow?
Could my electrical insulation (coil) be breaking down when its worked really hard?

Could be all of the above Black Bear. I would check the secondary clutch first. At what position does the belt sit in the secondary?? Flush?? down a bit?? Do you know if you have the correct belt on it??

Right before you get into the powder, block off some intakes with something temporary. Just to keep the snow from getting inside on the pipe. See if that makes a difference.
