Any one try a set of LED headlights in a sled yet? Thinking about switching my 99 to the dual headlamp setup and wondered how the Led lights work. LED's are suppose to draw less power so i figured i could run the instead of having to put the 300 watt stator in. Just wondered if they where bright or not or if I'm wasting my time. Thanks for any info.

I have heard the are very bright, but do not have much for projection, ie: cannot see very far ahead? never tried them so can't say for sure. I did convert my 98 to dual headlights like the 00 and up, with the lower wattage bulbs spliced in, and it made a night and day difference.
Try the bluhm lights have aet in my viper they rock

So I got a set of LED lights and tried them, just to give the rest of you a update they suck. They look cool but projection is terrible, I wouldn't spend the money again thats for sure. Has anyone put a 300 watt stator out of a 2000-2002 srx into a 98 or 99 srx? Trying to get better lighting on my sled.

I put some 40 watt LEDs in my 98 with dual headlight lens and it is very true white and very bright love the look. We put inline switches that convert to dc power ran all day today u cannot stare at the light it also puts out a wide beam of light . My brand is from eBay and r the 40 watt h4 ones.85 bucks is the price.

Does the inline switch and changing to dc power make them brighter or something? You still have the 98 stator in that sled? I also think the new headlight projects light better to then the 98 and 99 light does.

Yes it is brighter and operates in only in dc power I still have 99 stator in it. Only changed to dual bulb headlight. I will be testing these more for to see if they hold up. There was no hot wires or problems today.

Very interesting, how are you switching the current over to dc? You have high and low beam on the ones you have, mine are only one stag

Light Emitting Diodes aka LEDS do not last long on AC current or flucuating DC, they need a fairly steady voltage, as far as converting AC to DC its basically just a capacitor which levels out the waves in your voltage (will not go into detail about capacitors as it will take hours lol) heres one on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Koso-North-America-AC-DC-Converter-/360860637429?_trksid=p2054897.l4275Very interesting, how are you switching the current over to dc? That may explain why my light seems to be brighter at idle then it is when I raise the rpm's a bit

Another piece to add to my summer parts list lol. Boy the list is getting large

Yes mine r both high and low have them both on high all the time. And we used small capacitors to convert power.

The cases on a 98-99 are not machined to acept the newer stator. (anything is possible)
I had mine apart this summer and was going to upgrade the system to the new 300 watt system, I did not want to mess with making the stator fit in my cases.
So I try not to travel at night ....

Ya not travelling at night is one way to do it. But we go for night ride every once in awhile, family stuff you know. I want to switch to the dual setup and increase the light with as little cost and work as possible. I have a bunch of other projects lined up for the srx this summer.
