Ok this is going to sound really odd but are the cranks in the SRX's cast steel? I have a machine shop doing the bent connecting rod swap for me but unfortunately he doesn't do his own welding so instead of waiting an extra day for him to go to the shop he usually farms out his welding to I figured I could have it done here at the local fab shop. What I need to know is if the crank is cast steel or forged steel because if it's cast then I'll have to find another shop to tig weld it because the one I was going to use isn't set up to tig cast.

So I should tell the guy doing the welding to just weld the pin up like a normal steel weld?He was concerned that the crank may have been cast steel.
