The speedometer stopped working. The bearing went. Would you replace just that bearing or replace the other side to? The sled has reverse so I am not crazy about opening the chain case.

Ultimately that's up to you. It is more work for sure but if you take your time it isn't that bad of a job. If they are the original bearings it's just a matter of time before that lower chaincase bearings goes. I did all mine last season and had no idea that the lower chaincase bearing was not long for the world until I got it out.
If you don't do it now I would plan on doing it before next season. Just my 2 cents
