Hello my 86 Phazer needs its carbs cleaned. i have done lawnmower carbs but i am scared to try this. i have heard of them being connected for synchronization and being a pain to re calibrate. i was wondering if i could get instructions and directions from you guys with as much detail as possible would be great. thanks

Dont mess with the sync adjustment unless you think you need to. You can sync them while they are out. All you have to do is make sure both butterflys open at the same time. If you have a good ear its not that hard to re-sync them once they are installed. The best tip I have ever heard for cleaning Phazer carbs is "If you see brass, plug it." This is refering to the two rubber plugs that plug two of the three ports on the bottom of the carb. Hope this helps.

just did some for the first time,i have to do it again but thats alright, remove choke cables marking which one went were and put the ends carefully in a ziploc bag so spring and plungers dont fly off,set em to the exhaust side along with the throttle and oil pump cable, loosen carb boot clamps and airbox clamps, work carbs up and out a little and remove fuel lines, plug em with a golf tee, pull carbs out, remove float bowl by removing bolt on bottom, that is also the main jet, clean it with carb spray, remove rubber plugs, they go in the middle hole and over the pilot jet, remove pilot jet carefully with a good small screwdriver, clean it and the passage it was in,clean the 3 small holes in the front mouth of the carb apparently there is also a small jet in one of those holes(step i afta do yet)spray threw the gas inlet testin the float when it opens and closes, check both butterflys open at the same time, when youre done reinstall carbs in motor boots and rehook fuel lines(clutch side was a pain)work airbox boots back on carbs then i bent the boot clamps open around the carbs and put those on,reinstall all cables.taking the secondary clutch off may help but i think thats about it. also there are 2 bolts in the dash on the brake handle side under a removable tab that need to come out so you can move the airbox back
