1992 exciter le. wow 3:16

neighbor just got one. not a bad sled but just won,t run. no matter what we do or try, gets worse and worse. sled is a barn find so who knows how long it sat. starts up great and will idle, than farts, pops, skips, and even has blown carb right out of flanges. we have tryed.
1. new fuel
2. new plugs
3. new coils
4. different fuel pump
5. great compression
6 new fuel lines/ fuel filter destroyed. changed
7. no rodents
8 no tors
9 clean carbs
10. extra carbs
11. wow what a nightmare. 3:16 (yammie tony)

did you check the exhaust pipe for a nest...........or any wires chewed up

I have had similar issues this year with a couple of Exciters. Make sure all the connections are clean on the CDI, and coil. Double check that the ground is clean on the coil. Even if the banjo connector looks clean, clean it up with some emery cloth.

My first thought too. When it starts running like schnitt pop the springs off on the y pipe. It should clean right up if the pipe is plugged.
