Hello All; New member here. I have a '77 Yamaha Exciter 440. Just replaced the oil tank and she sounds good except throttle response is slow (bogs). Does this carb have an accelerator pump?
the carb itself does not have a pump built into it, assuming you have stock carb. trace the fuel line from carb, should be going to a fuel pump. if its boggy, you might wanna start with a good carb cleaning.
Carb was disassembled and soaked two days in one gallon of NAPA carb cleaner, same way I do my outboards. I'm looking for that instant response from idle to WOT. Right now she just dies when I punch the throttle.the carb itself does not have a pump built into it, assuming you have stock carb. trace the fuel line from carb, should be going to a fuel pump. if its boggy, you might wanna start with a good carb cleaning.

Not too familiar with those carbs but it sounds like its too lean to me. I'm guessing it has an air screw and not a fuel screw? IF it's an air screw what is it set at now? I usually start at 1 turn out from lightly seated. Airbox in place?

Thanks Viper; With airbox installed I dialed in the screw and shot some oil into the dual cable. Now she responds quickly from idle to WOT. When my son gets here today, he can finish the little stuff on HIS sled and get it out of my garage. I will have fun riding it while we still have snow.

NICE!! Just keep an eye on your plugs and piston wash for peace of mind. Tell your son to fix his sled and get it out of your garage. LOL! Enjoy the rest of the season.
