Picked up a Dx 600 with reverse and electric start. Any issues or things I should know about this sled. I Really like the reverse. Will be cleaning the carbs this weekend first thing.

Hey hammer does the DX have a crack in the hood where a belt got it by any chance from Swartz creek/flint area?
I had one and it was a good sled not the fastest but the carbs will a little fat, reverse it touchy when you shift it in make sure you drop the RPM enough and it locks in so you don't spin the gears. As for the e-start make sure you don't let the battery die as the batteries go bad real fast in the winter.
If its not my old one you will want to pull the skid and check the shafts for worn bushing and bearings (I changed them in my old one so if it is yours now you got lucky )

I didn't see a crack in the hood. I picked it up a little south of Jackson. I was able to take it for a nice test drive in a farmers field and it would do about 75-80 mph. The compression was a little over 120 on both . I've never ridden a yamaha twin before but it started in 3 pulls and it was very cold yesterday. It sputtered a little off the line but cleaned up at 30mph. I assume it is dirty carbs. Do you have any jetting suggestions?
You were right about the battery, it was dead so I didn't get to test the e- start. Any suggestion Where to get a battery?
Also, is the skid 136".?

Yep, 1995-1996 DX's were 136.
Yuasa is one of the better battery brands, and they are also OEM to Yamaha's. Not sure of the best place to get one off the top of my head, shop around locally or online with a trusted retailer. Probably not a common size to find locally in any brand, unless you have a large battery distributor nearby.

If your running a single pipe that to end is pretty close. I never bought a battery as mine always started easy I did looked and never found a good (that's relative) price.
