so from the title i am attempting to build a phazer back to its glory as it was a powder hunter back i the day. i am not taking like mountains just playing around in maybe 1 to 2 feet of fresh. the sled is about 430 with full capacity of fuels without me i am 125 pounds. i know what i am doing for a track/extension about a 136 in length with an sc4 doo suspension because of ease of mounting while sporting a 1.25 inch lug but advice is greatly appreciated on any thing...also risers about 6 inches higher with a lighter and higher seat. so i worked out that stock 56 hp it is going to be 10 pounds per 1 horsepower on the sled stock with me on it without weight reduction. one concern is the motor. i have been told with going to far comes unreliability. i looked up and found sx cut skirt pistons and a pipe with a flat slide carb really wake the thing up. dynotech research has gotten a phazer up to 82 hp but it was not trail friendly and the midrange was lean and was using the stock carb. dropping weight should be easy and with 75 hp it would be about 6 pounds per pony.also i have worked on venting and heat directing chutes from the shroud to direct warm air out over the clutch cover. rule number one keep cool under the hood. advice appreciated. thanks. tyler.

hey tyler, the thing with that six inch riser you want to do is this here:
the phazers do not have a hydraulic brake line, it is a cable, so you as well as I need to think of a way to extend that or get another one that will be able to work with little or no fabrication. as for the throttle cable, I am unsure of the throttle cable and do not know if a simple extension kit bought online will work?
next, when you raise the bars you will also be raising the fairing, so either you have to build a separate bracket, lose it, or change your rise position. The speedo and tach cables, as far as I can see on my sled, will NOT allow for that much of a rise

A Compromise:
-you can go 2.5 inch rise without changing anything on the sled, not even splicing wires. if you go higher than this the brake will apply itself when the handlebars are turned.

im not exactly sure with the whole pounds per horsepower either????

another easy modification for these sleds to get them a little something extra is building a cold air intake system out of some pvc and a couple air filters you can buy online. As well as the intake, if you change the exhaust like you were saying the sled will really respond to that. re-jetting the carbs is another thing to try out, it will get rid of that hesitation at about half throttle that most older sleds have.

hope I helped
sled on!

Well I might have another sled to trail ride and now I wanna do somthing crazy...how bout a turbo. People use to race turbo phazers and it would be awsome to go down a trail with a turbo phazer and see people's reactions. With enough google, you tube , shop manuals, and a guy who knows a guy it is possible.
