Well after sticking ANOTHER piston yesterday even after I put in a thermostat into the 01 SRX I tore into it yet again today and looked at everything extremely closely.I think I found the source of my problem.that being a crack in the cylinder between the exhaust port and the transfer port.I noticed this before but thought it was just a scratch in the nicasil but today when I was cleaning out the old piston material with muriatic acid there was bubbles coming from inside the exhaust port and that's when I really got to looking at it.I dug out a magnifying glass and sure enough the crack goes from one side of the exhaust port to the transfer port.
I could've saved myself a whole lot of anguish if I'd taken a better look at this the first time around,I could have sent the cylinder away and had it fixed and back on the sled.As it is now I doubt that by the time I get the thing sent out and back the snow will be gone.
Anyone got 1 Bender trail ported 00-02 SRX cylinder they want to sell?
