So friday i was at the snowdeo in northern New Hampshire. I was able to demo 2 Vipers. I rode an XTX and another model not sure which model that was but it appeared to be a stock model. My initial thoughts words at the Viper clearly sits much higher than my Nytro XTX this seat is also more narrow and the seat felt as if it would slightly roll side to side almost with you in the corners. the skis seem to be planted farther forward then what I'm use to. Overall I was very impressed with the total ride of the Viper the power was still there in the four stroke and the comfort was also noticeable. I like the fact that the natural foot position placed your feet much farther in front of your knees then other Yamaha models in the past allowed, allowing for a much more comfortable trail riding position.
I also demoed the 900 ACE from skidoo and personally, if I have to ride another one in my lifetime that would be too soon. I have never ridden such a dog for a sled. One would think that for a 900 there would be some sack in the throttle. in fact it appears the sled has been nutured as there's no sack at all to that motor. I rode the entire demo wide open and the rider in front of me continued to pull away. it was uncomfortable not only trying to handle but just the natural position the seat and steering put you in. even for a rider forward chassis standing was a chore and me being only five foot five I still felt I had to hunch over when standing.
Did anyone else go up and demo some sleds?
