I've got a 93 Phazer LE that runs fine. I've got a chance to pick up a 99 Phazer that is complete except the engine. The pipe, carbs and even the cooling shroud are there. Will the 93 engine bolt into the 99 chassis or were there mounting changes when they changed the body style in 97?

I cannot say for sure what all would be involved but over the years I have ben on here (TY) I have read a few threads about the "pro-action" Phazer being some what of a one trick pony. As in for ease of install donor motor needs to come from a pro-action Phazer. There was a thread recently (within the last year) of another member looking for an engine case worth re-building as there was some sort of issue with most of them in the rod journals. I believe this is due to the 484 (or 485? not sure) I have seen quite a few for sale with bad motors and steered clear of the ones that ran due to the engine issues.

You're right about bottom end problems. The 485 was a great engine and a pipe would wake it up. Problem was the bottom end wasn't designed for the extra power. Putting a pipe on it was like playing Russian Roulette with the crank. 10 years ago there were many Phazers for sale with bottom end issues and many aftermarket pipes and jet kits for sale too. I'll maybe have to check with a couple dealers and salvage yards to see if this is feasible to do. There's nothing wrong with my Phazer but a proaction skid and trailing arm front end would be a definite upgrade.

The cases are totally different and it wont be direct swap into the proaction chassis. You will need to fab up motor mounts.
