Hi Guys / Gals,

I purchased a used 2002 SX Viper earlier this year (my first sled) and have got a good 800 or so miles out of it this season. However, this time of year the snow on the lakes and trails is hard packed and its starting to cause cooling issues. I had the temperature light pop up a few times and had to stop to cool it down. I have searched and found this to be a "common" problem and its seems the fix is to install a rear heat exchanger.

I was wondering if there was a list of compatible heat exchangers (i.e. 2000 SXR, etc.) and also if there is any type of installation instructions, pictures, tips, etc.? I have a studded track which I think requires some additional protection. Also some rivets seem to be needed for mounting. Is there anything else I need?

I also ordered some ice scratchers just for good measure.

Thanks!

I have an 04 Viper S that has ben given the Hartman 144" treatment that they just put the cross over tube back on. I have yet to install a rear exchanger but its on the list of things to do and have done a little home work. Here are my results in a nut shell. Although the smallest cooling capacity a cooler of the Mtn Viper is supposed to be a straight forward easy install with as close to perfect fit and finish. Next would be cooler from sx chassis (any red head powered sled) This has larger cooling capacity BUT inlet/outlet has to cut off and turned slightly for hose to line up. Again straight forward install and close to perfect fit and finish. Next is SRX cooler, Largest cooling capacity, straight forward install BUT cooler will hang a little lower than the rear wall of tunnel and wont fit exactly against it. Some would say it looks a little funny. As mentioned, Have yet to do installed, just what I gather from a dozen or so threads on here.

I installed the SRX rear heat exchanger in our extended 136" Viper. Easy install, looks great. No issues at all. I also installed the SRX protectors as well. We are running 1 1/2" studs Al

That's what my plan is on my extended to 144" Viper. I am unsure where he would be with out the extra real estate.

I have an 02 Viper and also put an SRX exchanger on and have had no issues with overheating. I think it was from an 01 SRX.

can also use one from a venture as they did make a sx viper venture for 1 year in us and 2 years in canada.
