Ok all you tech guys I need your help!
I have an 2003 sxViper Mountain and it runs great...most of the time.
Today was a warm day +5C sled ran great but towards the end of the 165km ride it starting doing something strange. When I let off the throttle the engine sound would change and when I went to give it gas it just would not go. I have to let the rpm's slow down to 2000 or less than if I gave it throttle it ran fine for a while and it would do it again, and again.
It almost seems like timimg or something preventing the engine from revving up when it acts up.
Any clues on what to look for?
Oh; the warranty ran out on the Jan 19! Go figure......

ITs the TORS system acting up, did you mess with the handle bars or carbs recently, ifso it needs to be adjusted, if not it need to be disabled. see FAQs

The only messing that's been done on this sled is by the @#$ dealer...

did you ever get your top end looked at? that compression was low. do yourself a favor and pull the head off and take a look., 100 is way too low. then tell the dealer if there is a problem.maybe the sled is only running on two cylinders...

The "dealer" I WAS going to won't do a thing says the compression is fine even if the new vipers on the showroom floor have higher compression and have not even been broken in.
So I went to the other dealer in town and he agreed to have a look at it as soon as his sled mechanic returns from vacation.
Guess where I'll be doing my shopping next time....
