This is my first post so please be patient. I have a 1992 xl Venture 480 and am planning to change the chain case oil. Is it possible without taking the cover off? Also are there any sources of free service manuals for this machine. The chain case oil is clean but I just want to replace it. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Redneck Albertan
on those the lowest bolt on the chaincase cover is the oil drain. same chaincase as my et410 as i have a spare one from a 92 venture in the garage. you should check the chain tension while you are at it. loosen the jam nut and tighten it finger tight, then back it off a max of 1/4 turn and re-tighten the jam nut.
