Well I bought my Venture so my now 12 year old daughter can ride with me, which is great. But when I ride without her, and am riding faster and harder, the low seat kills me after 50-60 miles. I saw a pic of a mountain max with a venture seat, and it got me to thinking..... I think I can set up the seat to come off easily, (and the backrest), set up a boss, or similar, seat to be easy on/off so I can exchange seats quickly, and I may have a better set up. I would need some pivot risers as well. Am I crazy or is this doable? Another sled just for me isn't really in my budget.

No changes needed. Would be easy to set up as the boss just velcros down. I live my boss seats. You would have best of both worlds.

is did the same thing with my venture, first year with a viper seat and after that a boss. I found the boss gave enough room to ride double with the kids using a powermad passenger strap around me. I use it to this day with my apex and all my kids, far better than a two up seat. I have ridden 300 mile days with my oldest daughter this way. If you search Superventure, you will see my old sled with a medium boss seat. but yeah, they fit right on. No tank difference.

Another option and economical would be to raise the seat. Could use wood or metal, aluminum channel would work well, and if you wanted you could put on a piano hinge and have storage space underneath. There would be a step where the seat meets the tank, no problem if you don't mind the look. 3 or 4 inches higher should be good.

Thanks guys. Another option I have considered in re-doing the stock seat with more foam in the front section to get a higher seating position. The disadvantage of doing this is more weight when riding alone.

Forget about modifing the OEM seats. Buy a Boss, you won't be sorry. We have 4 and everyone loves the ride. Best modification I have ever done to any of our sleds.

Well, looks like I'm going to order a boss seat soon. Any idea how much high the boss seat is compared to the stock seat?

I'm going to order a seat soon. I'm wondering if anyone has a boss seat with the softer density foam. I'm 5'10, 160 pounds. Not sure if I should get the standard or softer foam.

About to place my order, still up in the air about which foam to get.

Just got my seat, Ordered July 10th, so it took 20 days inc ground shipping. Pretty good I think. I ordered it through rockymountainsnowmobile.com, which saved the the shipping expence. All orders over $150.00 include shipping. Now to get some time available to install it.

Test fit the seat. Major difference! Looks to be easy to change back and forth from the touring to the boss seat. I'll just use the 4 bolts to mount the backrest, rather than the bolts and rivets. The boss seat must weigh half of the touring seat does, and the backrest has got to be roughly 20 pounds, so there will be a huge weight savings.

Well I'm about finished with my Venture project. I repaired the water pump leak, rebuilt the front suspension, repaired the cracks in my hood, and repainted it white & black. I had the graphics place down the street add some vinyl graphics. Installed my boss seat. Added powermadd risers and extended the cables. I also paint the tunnel. Here's some pics.

looks great but cant give you much for originality...guess imitation is the highest form of flattery. if you raise the bars with the boss ,make sure to mod the steering post or it will snap

My apologies. The stripes were supposed to be black carbon fiber with red trim, and no tuning fork. I almost had him redo it, but he went on about how hard it was, and he did as a favor, so I decided not to say anything. I showed him a pic of an 08 Apex anniversary edition, and your sled. I thought it had it clear that I didn't want a knock off. While they are not the same, they are much closer that I had intended. Again,I apologize.
Keith,
So how to you like the seat? Which foam did you order? (I'm 6' 2", 170 lbs.) How does the Boss storage volume compare to a standard Vmax seat?
I'm thinking of doing the same thing with a newer 2 cycle Venture.
Thanks,
Dave

I like what you did with your venture. It's something I'm considering down the road.
Did your Boss seat come with a taillight or did you order the optional LED taillight?
