I need some expert information from you Yamaha guru's. I seem to have developed a oil leak at the oil seal on the PTO side of my 2000 MMax 600 triple. It seeps oil after it has been driven hard for a while. What are the symptoms of this type of leak, it runs great and never misses a beat. RPM's are right on the money. What can happen if I just let it go? Will it start running lean on that cylinder, I don't want to squeak a piston. Is there some way to check for seal leakage in the shop? It only has about 1800 miles on it and has always been maintained. I always service and fog the engine for summer storage. Any suggestions?

You may just need to tighten the bolts that hold the cases together. Remove the primary clutch & start the sled. Spray starting fluid around the crank seal while the sled is running. If rpm,s increase you know you have a serious leak & should replace the seal immediately.

Thanks
Thanks Turk, I will try the starting fluid trick, if the RPM's don't increase, I will tighten the bolts a little.
