Twice this weekend I wound out my 600 Vmax and had it cut out at the top. Not really sure what RPM I was running as I was busy steering (still fighting some darting issues) and watching the trail ahead. But, it acted just like the rev limiter on my boat... cut the power until I let off the throttle... then it was fine. Did this at about 100 mph indicated speed (man that speedo reads HAPPY). IF I had to guess, that would have been about 8500 rpm or so. What is the redline on this sled??? Could I have over-revved it??

Yes, twin... and it will hit 8500 anytime I want. Seemed high to me too. How do I bring those revs down??? When it's hooked up well, it will run about 8000 rpm top end. Where should it be running???

600 twin should hit ~7800, 8000 max

you need some more weight in those cams

Worn out clutch springs could contribute too especially if it just started to do it. If you've made any other changes (like thinner head gasket) then now you need to start adding more weight to the primary.

The belt is not brand new either... I'm going to get a new belt and try that first. Thanks for the replies though fellas... I'll keep all this in mind.
