Looking at a very nice 86 SRV 540. I dont know much about these sleds other then they seem to be the fan cooled version of the VMAX 540.

Yep they are basically the same chassis as a Vmax 540. The SRV is around 60hp fanner, single carb, they like to drink a lot of fuel, rear shocks are expensive, the fan blades like to launch, they are complete dogs if the clutches are not maintained 100%. Fun sleds tho.

They were plagued by Yamaha putting a 6.3 (?) gal tank the same as the Vmax.

Im not sure about the tank size, but it would seem smaller than that. All I know is I towed my buddy a couple of times with my Exciter, to get fuel when I had plenty left.

Exciter was 8.3 gal and still too small compared to the other brands at the same time frame.
