pulled my 2000 srx tar out , first time since last sept. carbs spotless, idles fine. minute its builds alittle heat, cyl number 1 drops. it than will act like its fighting back some, but huge difference in heat of pipes on 2 and 3. i believe stator is breaking down. guys anything else here to look for . 3:16

Start with the easy stuff like plug cap connection or a bad plug...Did you check the resistance of the bad coil vs the working ones?

Your on target with the stator, can check it without removing but it's likely your issue...but it could be a chafing issue, when rebuilding my 02 I found so many wires that were almost chafed through...I removed the damaged wire from the connectors, heat shrink tube over it, then ran all new wire coverings over the entire sled, there were a lot of rad hoses that were rubbing as well so I got some rad hose and made insulators where there was signs of contact!

Am hoping this makes the sled as reliable as possible

DAM! that was my guess but I kept my mouth shut. most of this racing stuff is over my head... guess i should have thrown in my 2 pennys.

Mouse nest will do it.

Also on similar symptoms check pipes for cracks in the pipe/pipes. Cracks will open under heat/pressure of RPM and give trouble that isn't as noticeable on a stand.
