This is the ultimate trail set up for me:

Primary:
15,6mm rollers
HC red spring
5,2 grams in heel, 7-8 grams in tip (whatever you can fit in without the bolt head or nut touching the spider pockets)

Secondary:
Hauck red secondary@70 deg
Dalton 50/40 helix.

It's quick, AND it's fast. Did some trail riding this weekend and 100-110 on the straights no problem, will do 120++ on the river (speedo). This is in +5C weather, and it's jetted for -18c

Would this Hauck secondary spring be the same spring used in their 98 SRX 700 clutch kit I wonder?I bought one of these kits years ago for my 98 and it had primary shims for the spring, new bolts to replace the rivets ,a helix and a red spring.I've been wondering if there would be any kind of a setup I could use this spring in and it so happens that I use clickers now in my 98 with a 50/38 helix and a green spring.

If it is long and stiff, it probably is the same. With a 50/38, you will overrev some, I had 8650, and that was when jetted pig rich.

I found the same when trail clutching my 02, I liked the Apex 51/43 helix better then the bender 51/45 helix...

The steeper helix pulled hard but was almost too much for trail riding...lost a lot of that fun revvy throttle response....I think that with the 1.25 and transfer rods set for full transfer that I am loading the motor with traction, therefore my need for lighter clutching...the sled just grips and rips! A lot different then my buddy with stock rods and 1" shockwave track

Now that it's warmed up here, I changed the setup:

BWB primary spring 45-111
8dn-20's 4.5 each hole
apex 51/43 helix
Green secondary spring @70

I also used my airbox top with 5 holes in the top and swapped the Srx airbox shelve with the 3 huge holes for a SXR airbox shelve with the rectangular openings that line up with the holes...

I gained rpm so I had to remove the primary spring and install the BWB with the 111 finish rate

Am getting very close to having it dialed in to suit my riding style!

Great it worked for you. I've never seen a srx set up with that low of a total-rate of the primary spring. You should really try heelclickers sometime if you get the opportunity. I forgot to mention that the backshift is the best I've ever experienced on any sled.

Am going to try them if I can find a used setup next year...I was over reving to 8600-8700 so Instead of adding more weight on the arms and slow the response I installed a spring with a lower total force...worked awesome!
