Heated Shield/Visor on a 96 xt - what wires?

I am going to be running a heated visor/shield on my 96 vmax 600xt. It isn't electric start. What would be the correct place to tap into to get the power for the shield. I want to keep everything working, ie grip heaters, oil light, head light.....

I have already searched, but most of it is for new sleds.

I looked at the wiring diagram. It looks like I should tap into the supply to the heated grips before it goes through the variable resistor. That way the shield is "switched" on when I turn the grips on. Does that sound right?

There is a plug near the footwells, (I believe it is on the left on that sled) that is used for the reverse warning beeper. It has a constant 12v.

Yep, none of my sleds have had reverse and they all have the plug. Some are on the right and some are on the left. The wire to the plug is 12v, just tie the other side ot the sheild to ground.
