75 GPX ski's and spreaders on an SRX

I plan to bring my 79 SRX back into service this winter for fun. I also have a 75 GPX frame with the original skis and spreaders. Has anyone run the SRX with the wider ski stance.
 

really do not need the spreaders IMHO but they will bolt right up but it just puts more stress on the front end of the srx ......skis are the same
 
Thanks. I was wondering why Yamaha widened the stance on the 75 GPX but did not do this for the early SRX's that followed. You are probably correct that they did not prove to be of any advantage on the race track. From info I found related to John Deere sleds in the late 70's there was some discussion of spindle failures with widening kits but I haven't seen anything on this problem with Yamaha sleds.
