Hello, I took y-pipe off to paint and never looked to see which way gasket goes on between pipe and cylinders. Does the metal part of gasket go against cylinders or y-pipe. Thanks.

without digging one out and inspecting, i can tell you there is a small tit on one side of the gasket and that tit faces the primary clutch.

Thanks for info. Will check. One side of gasket is metal and the other side is a gasket material. I was thinking the non-metal side would go against cylinders and the metal part against y-pipe. It only seems to fit with the metal side against the cylinders. Would this be right. Thanks.

ok, you made me look. dug one out and your orientation is correct. metal to tri-pipe, rubbery side to cylinders. that aforementioned tit is the tell tale sign. i even looked it up in the service manual.
