....and I know you were....the broken down ZR from the Muni ride is getting some new parts! Yup, with any luck, she'll be back on the snow by this weekend. Gonna cost me some $$$, but I'll have almost a brand new engine when it's done. BTW - see the picture of the piston.
Thanks to all for all of the help. A huge thanks to Rick (don't know his handle) for letting me ride his Viper on Friday. That really saved me some $$$.
Mr. Sled, I was trying to get you this pic for your big Muni Ride recap, but I guess this will have to do. BTW - I may have another pic of Billy doing some praying after coming back from the garage on Friday night.
Yup, GOOD STUFF!!

Welcome aboard! If I don't have to adjust my ski tie downs, I might even let you put that in my trailer

I knew who it was, that is why I offered to stick it in my trailer... go to the tech page and see my top end
Well, a little over one month and $1200 later, and I got her all fixed and back together running. Yeah, that seems like a long time and a lot of $$$ to me too, but when I had her out this weekend, it seemed all worth it. Wow, what a difference! My seld hasn't pulled this hard in a LONG time, and the rings probably aren't even fully seated yet.
Here's what I ended up having to do: Sent crank out to be trued and welded, replaced both crank bearings, replaced both crank seals, had one cylinder re-plated, replaced two pistons, replaced APV cables and a number of gaskets. In other words, it's essentially a brand new motor and yes, it's still stock displacement.
Still not sure what caused the problem in the first place, but I guess I learned a lot about motors and maintenance. Now, if only I can get invited up to Backwoods Bills to really see what the Kitty Cat can do. Or.....are you afraid?
Randy, you gonna go up this weekend? I think we're going up to Grand Marais on Thursday? Anyone else? Chris? Ski? Larry, I already know your answer.
