Ive got a lead on 96 v4, guy said he lost the registration but would write up a bill of sale. I drive 2 hours to pick it up and it felt fishy. So i drove home. Where do I go about checking the VIN in the State of Michigan? Local Dealer? Police?

Sec of state. I did this last year as I bought a SRX with registration from 2 owners ago, guy I bought it from filled all his info on reg like he was going to register it and never did. Seems there was an extra $26 for search and takes about an hour. If sled comes back NOT stolen your good to go. From what they told me its the same deal for a boat or ATV.
