So I've decided to do the top end on my 02 viper this fall. It has around 19,000 km and I believe that its never been touched. What brand of pistons should I use? I'm thinking about doing reeds as well. Do the boysen power reeds work well? Would I have to re jet? Is there anything else I should do while its apart? Isn't there some gasket swap from the srx for better cooling? Any help appreciated guys.
Thanks.
Thanks.

if oem pistons lasted 19,000km then i would get another set and run it another 19,000km. Stock reeds are the best for a stock engine, not really much gains off from aftermarket ones for the money. If your viper is stock i would at least invest in a bender opticool head gasket for it and then freshen up the top end and run it. Very impressive that the engine is untouched for that amount of miles!!!

Post the specs of your pistons when you get it apart. I'm interested to see how wore they are... If any!

I will post it up. When I took the y pipe off I looked at the pistons and cylinders and they didn't look horrible. Are wiseco or spx any good?

i have used a set of spx in a viper. with the opticool head gasket. put 4000 km on the sled with no problems before my brother sold it. wiseco can seize if not warmed up to operating temp properly, other than that i heard they are pretty good.
