I picked up a set of Ohlins from a guy. He was running them on his SRX and then he parted out the sled. He said something about running the mountain front (which I dont understand because I thought they were more narrow)
My SRX supposedly has SXR rods...but I don't think it does. When the r rods are horizontal the dog bones are nearly vertical...no spacers.

Measurements the best I could read are:
Ohlins shocks eye to eye 17.5" with 4 5/8" travel.
Stock shocks eye to eye 13.5" with 2 7/8" travel.
Eye to eye of sled is 15" extended and 10" when compressed.
Vertical ski travel is 10"

What do I need to do in order to make these shocks work? As is it seams the shock will have to be compressed quite a bit before I can even mount them up. Also appears that the Ohlins will bottom out long before the skis compress all the way.

Thanks in advance!

Being they will be compressed so much you might not get the ride you are looking for. Agree with Snoprokidf6. I would look for a set that are made for a SRX.

How much did you buy them for? I may be interested. I can fit these longer shocks with a wider front end and i lowered the tie rod boot slightly and added spacers on the ends. Trimmed my skid plate to.

I guess its time to fab some new mounts...

so, what you were sold look to be RX1 shocks. They are way too long to use in any normal way.. If you find some short eyes, you can take some height out of them. I used to use a set of these on my apex with lower eyes. will get them closer to 16.5. even with that, the stock srx mounts still get you too low and not out far enough to make the suspension work correctly, thought it will look cool and chicks will dig it.

If you want this style ohlins to go on your shock mounts with your front end, you want to find a set made for a polaris or doo, there were some around and they measured 15-16in. If your looking to keep your stock width, I would try to find the 15in version, if your going wider, try to find 16in version.
To go longer causes tie rods to hit on the tunnel when turning and hitting a bump at the same time as well as increases bump steer even worse than it is on these sleds. You want your arms as close to level when riding as possible unless your going to redisign your tie rod to a drag link style to correct.

Your best bet, other than looks, is to just buy my brackets and widening kit, purchase viper/xtc/sxr front shocks, usually 100bucks and sell those ohlins.

If you need anything, call me or text, 207-538-7391. I am rarely on here to answer questions anymore so if you pm me, might be a month later before I see something.

Scott

I bought your widening kit. I am also fabricating some custom upper shock mounts.

I make a set that puts them high enough but the cans are very tight and can hit the belly pan. I don't sell them unless someone is willing to do alot of cutting on the belly pan or heat it up to bend.

do you have any pictures of these brackets that you make that you can post up

Hey scott Im doing the sxr skid in my 2001 srx and was thinking of widening the front too. How much for your kit? Got a apex soft ride top shock I believe with a viper front for the pro action. Im very fortunate to have wealth of knowledge from you and my friend dean Thanks again for your help

Measure you're shock in you're rear skid. That might be long enough to fit there. Would be really nice with a revalve and to have all the adjustability

Well I just got back from hell week in the UP. Trails were pretty beat with all the traffic. Just to re cap. ...rx1 ohlins with ^^^^ betheviper1 widening kit and some custom upper shock mounts i made that put the top of the shocks as far up into the pockets as they would go. Mono skid. Started off 15 clicks in. ... thought with the shocks laying down so much that they would need a firm setting. .. but they didn't. Turned then out to just 5 clicks in and it still never bottomed.

This set up is much better than the srx ohlins. My other srx has a m10 with the short ohlins and the brackets flipped. It rides good n but not as good as these rx1 shocks! I'm verry happy with the results.
