Ok, I am working on my buddies 2000 SRX that we figure has a 98 or 99 motor in it. Stamped 8DN00. I got the carbs apart and noticed they don't have the plastic shields over the main jets, are they needed? And 2nd the jetting is 1 148.8 and 2/3 are 146.3
I see the 98 and 99's are 1/2 146.3 and 3 is 148.8 should I switch them around or leave them as they are?

this comes down to the ign. system used in the sled, is it still running the 300 watt stator and cdi box set up or was it converted and using the old 98-99 175 watt system? reason is the old system used the bigger main in the mag cylinder because it ran the hottest, if it has the new system on it then the pto cylinder will get the bigger main jet.
That we don't know, it is still running the dual bulb headlight, 2000 hood. Somebody said in my post last week that it could be 8DN00 cylinders on a 2000 bottom half, I am wondering if that's what it is cause the aluminum on crank case looks newer then the cylinders. So it could still have the 300 watt system, how do I check which system it is? Thanks!

As far as the plastic things over the mains i know my older sleds did not have them (96 xt) Never noticed a problem. My guess is they were added later to help keep fuel in the mains under load.

Ive ran my sled with and without the "jet hats" as I call them. No difference in performance. They were supposed to keep the fuel stable around the main.
Did the 175 still use the blue and white relays? If its old the lights should hit when pulling it over correct?
