Hey guys very new to the sled world. Figured Id give it a shot... So I picked up a 90 exciter running. alls good except bars are broken. This may be a stupid question but whats all in it to changing bars?
I would like to put risers on, delete windshield and gauges and install some sort of light kit. Also I noticed the other day when I went to start the sled the battery was not connected. So there was two red cables
and one ground. Soon as I connected both positive cables the sled started right up!! Am I missing something or is one of these positive cables supposed to go to a relay of some sort? Anything would help
Thanks a head of time

Joe

Should be a solenoid near the battery. One red cable goes from battery positive to one of the big lugs on the solenoid and the other goes from the starter to the other big lug on the solenoid. The wiring from the ignition circuit and key run to the small terminals on the solenoid. When you turn the key it sends power to the small terminals which activates the solenoid and completes the circuit between the two big terminals sending power to the starter. The solenoid is just a big magnetic switch that can handle the heavy draw of power that the starter needs.

For the bars don't know how the Exciters attach. Just start taking off the bar covers or whatever might be over them and it will become evident.

Risers may require longer cables. Speedo, brake, throttle, and oil injection cables. lots of stuff to consider.
