I just finished my latest project. It started out as a 2000 sxr 700 that had well over 12000 miles. Here's what was done:
motor pulled and replaced with lower mileage unit
replaced rings to freshen it up
new gaskets with 1 layer out of head gasket
v force reeds
bender pipes with jetting and clutching specs from buffalobob
reverse kit installed with 21/39 gearing
wahl bros extrovert 8 tooth drivers
camoplast backcounty 1 3/4" track
hartman's 136" tunnel extention with skid frame relocate kit
hartman aluminum bumper
oversize idler wheels
bender quick rods
viper shocks all around
pivot riser with 6" riser block with extended brake line and throttle cables
boss seat
Seeing as yamaha can't build what I want, I figured I would do it myself.

Looks good! How much was the extension kit?

The kit is around $450.00 us dollars. So when you factor in the dollar exchange and shipping, it gets expensive. Hartman ships by purolator and by air. So you get it fast but the shipping cost is crazy expensive. The kit itself is very high quality and fairly easy to install.
Cool to see some more members for the north here! lol That relocating kit, does that back up your skid to fit it in a longer track? I want to do a 144 on my SRX, but I want to use a monoshock suspension out of a newer sled. im not sure if it would be cheaper to find a 144 skid or a 136 and extended it ...

It does move it back, but there is a small rail extention kit that goes in as well. They do make a kit that will stretch a 121 to a 144 with the skid relocation. The kit really changes how the suspension works, i had to soften the shocks up quite a bit.
looks good Im thinking about doing it to my sx 700 any suggestions?

The 97 will need longer shocks for the front, and limiters and transfer rods from a 99 and up long travel proaction. The sky is the limit on how much you want to do or spend. Trust me this wasnt cheap, but I've wanted to do this build for a long time. I hope it is worth it, just waiting for a big dumping of snow so I can test it. You could also swap out the skid for a ski doo or polaris 136 or 144 if you can find one, just make sure you get the measurements for the bolt pattern from the donor sled.

How does the new build handle bigger bumps on beat up trails?

I haven't had much saddle time on it but the suspension is very stiff now. I've got to soften up the springs quite a bit to make it ride better and to carve better. I will probably get the shocks re-valved for next season. It transfers pretty good but I dont think it will be much of a trail sled anymore.
