Has anyone did this? Would I need to change the wiring harness or any other problems I might incounter?

Havent ever tried it BUT from what I have read its going to be almost all a custom install. The 98 engine is completely different than the 94. From what I have read the newer style 500 is rather hard to find and pricey when you do. I have read a few similar threads but asking about putting the older motor in the newer chassis.

idk why you would want to the 97-02 chassis are a dime a dozen and it would literally take a quarter of the effort i just put a 97 sx700 engine into a 2001 sxr 500 chassis all i had to do was harness swap and move the motor mounts in the pre drilled holes that just have rivets in them. then its just simple things like rear exhcnager throttle/oil/choke cables, cdi box and two coolant lines the one under the motor that goes into the pump and the coolent hose that is next to the chaincase that goes into your head. that is literally all the "mods" you have to do to put a triple in a twin chassis.
